Joe Mc Fadden Wins Heineken

Heineken sponsored Sunday’s competition with Joseph Mc Fadden winning a keg for himself after shooting a solid 42 pts.  The Dunlewey man is returning to form just in time for the minor league competition which starts in 2 weeks time.  Bhi Micheal O Gallchoir sa dara hait le 39 pointe agus Ruairi A O Mongain sa triu hait le 38.  Bhain Micheal Mac Ruairi an catagoir le 38 agus ba Seosamh O Duibhir le 23 agus Micheal O Dochartaigh le 21 a phioc suas an chead agus dara naoi. 

In the order of merit for golfer of the year, current holder Rory A Mangan, even at this early stage is already well on his way to retaining the title.  Mangan sits on a massive 80 pts after 4 months and when you consider around 100 pts usually wins the golfer of the year, the Brinaleck man will be hard to stop. 

The monthly draw was held on Sunday night with Declan Mc Bride taking the €250 top prize.  Hughie O Donnell won €150 with Hughie Doherty picking up €100 and Sean O Duibhir, John O Brien and Kitty Doherty all receiving €50.

Golf Oige results: Junior A: Ryan O Ceallaigh; 2: Sean Sweeney; 3: Aodan Laighneach.  Junior B: Jamie Doherty; 2: Domhnall Mac Giolla Bhride; 3: Ethan Harkin. Junior competition continues this Sunday at 4 p.m. 

The well kitted out Junior Cup team played against Portsalon on Friday evening last and won by 5 matches to 2 with the return leg in Portsalon this weekend.  Best of luck to the Jimmy Bruen team who are in action in the qualifier in Portnoo this Sunday. 

The return leg of the Fred Daly match against City of Derry is in Magheragallon this Friday, 4th May at 4 p.m.  Members are asked to come out and support our young golfers.  The Pierce Purcell qualifier will also be held shortly and anyone interested in playing should contact team captain Con Friel who’s busy trying to put a team together. 

Gallagher’s Foodstore will sponsor the 2-day competition this bank holiday weekend with a club scramble on the Monday.
